My month started out back home with a good old fashioned Alberta cold snap! With this weather, I was very grateful to have a few days at home to be able to help out while it was so cold. During my time back home, I was excited to make some local appearances before my travels continued. I had the opportunity to visit the Canadian Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame and take a look through the incredible collections of rodeo history preserved here. I also attended the Anchor D Genetic Edge Bull Sale which was such a fun event bringing our agricultural community together. I absolutely loved my time here and was so thankful to have been a part of it!
My travels then continued and brought me to Mississippi for the 60th annual Dixie National Rodeo which was very special as it was the first time Miss Rodeo Canada has made an appearance here. I got to travel with Miss Rodeo America and we were shown some true Southern Hospitality! While we were here we made appearances at the Mississippi State Capitol Building, various school visits, a Mayor’s Luncheon, a special needs facility visit, a concert meet and greet with Zach Top and Gretchen Wilson and five rodeo performances! We had such a great time and I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to experience Jackson, Mississippi!
From here, Miss Rodeo America and I travelled together to Kissimmee, Florida for the 154th Silver Spurs Rodeo where we were hosted for Queen Week! We had the opportunity to soak in all of the Florida sunshine while it was chilly back home and made memories that will last a lifetime. There were 23 other visiting state queens in Florida this year so as a group we travelled to teach about rodeo at different schools, community events and took part in helping at the rodeo. In some of our downtime, we were shown the adventure side of Florida with gator sightings, hog hunts, airboat rides, trying gator and frog legs and a fun beach day!
When I made it back home from Florida I quickly repacked my bags to make my way the next day to Ogden, Utah to help as a clinician at the 2025 Rodeo Queen Bootcamp! This was such a special clinic to have been a part of as it was it’s first year back after a 9 year hiatus. The way everything came together was incredible and it was so inspiring to see the growth that occurred in all participants over the weekend. I was so honoured to be a part of this amazing clinic and share some of my knowledge while learning myself from everyone involved.
I am now back home for a while to take part in some local events and gear up for the start of our rodeo season which is coming up at the end of the month!
Looking forward to all that’s next to come,
Codi Wilson
