I began my month of September at the Coronation Pro Rodeo, where we visited many different rural schools to speak about the sport of rodeo and even try a potato sack race! I definitely lost, horribly, but I had such an amazing time with all the students! I also had the privilege of singing our national anthem at the rodeo performances and mingle with so many people. Although Coronation was a smaller rodeo, it sure is mighty with community support!
After my trip to Coronation, I hopped in my amazing Ram 1500 from Innisfail Chryslerfor a wonderful road trip, traveling 1,261kms to Pendleton, Oregon! It was truly a once in a lifetime experience alongside my sash sister Miss Rodeo America, to take in all the sights of the historical and thrilling Pendleton Round Up! The grand entry of these incredible performances begin on horseback with the royalty and flag bearers jumping the track rail! It was so unique and made for some exciting rodeo action.
When I returned home from the beautiful Beaver State, I made my way to the worlds only Bavarian themed rodeo, Oldstoberfest! I have a very special place in my heart for this rodeo as it is produced by C5 Rodeo and many memories are always made with my fellow queens, including a visit to the local Lammles where we had so much fun creating content and shopping. I rode my own horse for his final grand entry at Oldstoberfest and it felt like an incredibly surreal moment that Cutter will never pack the Canadian Flag in the rodeo arena again. I have been so blessed with my equine partners though my entire queen journey, and riding my own horse for the end of the rodeo season, a few tears were definitely shed.
Following my final regular season rodeo, I made my way to the Capital City and new home of rodeo, Edmonton! I was so excited to attend the CFR50 Media Launch event, mingling with sponsors, seeing the official poster reveal and to also wander through Rogers Place to get more acquainted with the new home! CFR50 is so special and I am so excited about the support and encouragement from our community.
Edmonton’s Best Hotels hosted an event for all of their partnering hotels where they had to decorate their lobby’s. I had the esteemed privilege to judge the decorations alongside Jack Sweeny! All of the participating hotels sure made our job difficult, but it was such a fun afternoon seeing the community involvement and excitement leading up to CFR50!
Move in day for the MISS RODEO CANDA 2025 competition was all glitter, boots, hats, bags, and big smiling faces from our gorgeous 7 contestants! We had so much fun moving all of the girls’ stuff into our home away from home, The Chateau Lacombe! We hit the ground running starting the week at the Black Tie Bingo charity event for the Cowboys Benevolent Fund! We then had an incredible tour of the Legislative building and toured downtown Edmonton. Thank you so much Miss Rodeo Canada 1999 Karina Tees for giving our girls an inspirational talk as well! Karen Skeels and Miss Rodeo Canada 2023 Mackenzie Skeels also visited the girls to gift them with gorgeous Montana Silversmith’s contestant pendants as well as displayed the sponsored Anchor D Simmentals Horsemanship Buckle!
Wrapping up the month of September, our girls wrote their Written Exams while I visited the Leduc location Peavey Mart! Miss Rodeo America and myself had so much fun with the team there, creating content and mingling with customers!
With my whole heart,
Miss Rodeo Canada 2024
