Farewell:

Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened! This sums up how I feel as I come to the last month of my reign. rodeo and becoming the first lady of the CPRA has changed me, helped me grow up and given me a sense of strength. Just as rodeo gave a once endangered western way of life a second chance, so have you, the fans, rodeo personnel and competitors given me. I lost my brother Steven on August 3, 2006 and had been struggling through many trials and tribulations but the Friday night performance of the 33rd edition of Canadian Finals Rodeo changed all that. Through the many cities I visited, people I met, experiences I made, you helped me pick up the pieces of my life and emerge a strong confident woman.

To Renne, Sue and the Miss Rodeo Canada Committee, you have all given so much of your time to make this year happen for me. Every year, you take time away from your families to give young girls the opportunity to challenge themselves to become strong, dedicated, capable women. You give them the chance of living every little girls dream of becoming a princess. Hats off to you ladies who work mercilessly behind the scenes to make our dreams come true. You all wear the true crown beneath it all.

When it comes to giving, some people stop at nothing. This is how I would describe the many sponsors and supporters of Miss Rodeo Canada. You flew me to amazing destinations as far away as Australia and gave me a new look into the arena of life, all the while lavishing e with gifts and tokens to commemorate my year. Thank you for your kind generosity.

For the many rodeo committees and families who for a short while became like surrogate parents, it has been a pleasure and privilege to have worked with you in promoting our western heritage and a sport we both feel so passionately about. Thank you for making me feel so welcome and giving me a chance to give a voice to rodeo.

My parents, Cindy and Gilles, your support of yet another one of my crazy adventures has meant the world to me. You taught me to dream big and that stars really can be reached. Thank you for always believing in me. Love to you always!

To the seven ladies vying for the 2008 crown, I wish each of you good luck and remember that with a little perseverance, hard work and a smile you will go far.

I leave you now changed forever by rodeo to enter a new arena and I thank you all, for sharing an incredible year filled with laughter, amazing experiences and memories to last a lifetime.

God bless.
