Miss Rodeo Canada 1992

Deedra Lybbert, 19 years old, was crowned Miss Rodeo Canada 1992 at the 18th annual Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton, Alberta, November 1991.

Growing up on the family ranch at Marwayne, Alberta, she was involved in raising Quarter Horses and Simmental cattle. At the age of 12, Deedra and her sister and brother moved with their parents to Cardston in Southern, Alberta where they continue to operate a small cattle and ranch along with a Turbo service station.

Deedra has a strong interest in sports. She participated in basketball, badminton, figure skating (competitively and as a coach) and was on the varsity team in high school. Showing horses in western and english, Deedra qualified for the Canadian Nationals Arabian and half-Arabian show when she was only 11 years old.

A member of the Student Council, Deedra was active in high school events and participated in the school bands. With a strong love for singing, especially in the country and western field, she has competed in singing competitions and volunteered to sing the national anthem and provide intermission entertainment at numerous rodeos.

With the experience gained from singing for various groups, Deedra won the public speaking award when she was crowned Miss Cardston Rodeo. She also won the public speaking and horsemanship categories at the Miss Rodeo Canada pageant.

Deedra has recently finished her first semester of pre-nursing at Lethbridge Community College and on completion of her reign as Miss Rodeo Canada will pursue her nursing degree.
