Diary

It has been a true privilege to represent Canada and the sport of rodeo as Miss Rodeo Canada Princess 2010. Only those who have worn this crown know the weight of its responsibilities and its capacity to inspire others to follow the western way of life.

To the Miss Rodeo Canada organization, you have given me the inspiration to be someone that changes the world for the better! And though you have had and will continue to have many more Miss Rodeo Canada Princesses, you never had - nor will have - one that is more grateful for the opportunities which you have afforded her. I wish the new Miss Rodeo Canada and Princess a year full of new friendships, self-discovery, adventure and when all is said and done - fun!

Though my reign as Miss Rodeo Canada Princess is over, I look at it not as an end, but as a great opportunity for a new beginning. How fortunate I am to have had an experience that is so difficult to let go. Ironically, it takes real strength to let go!

But while this is the end of my year as Miss Rodeo Canada Princess, it is not the end of my story. It is merely the end of a chapter, and sadly one chapter must end in order for another to begin. Dr. Suess, the greatest story teller ever said it best,

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

Dr. Bob Steadward and Jocelyne Lambert, you deserve our utmost gratitude for your love and support, as we would not have achieved our goals for this year without your strong leadership.

Our sponsors are second to none we we could not have succeeded without your endorsements. A special thank-you to Patterson - UTI Drilling Limited both in Canada and the USA. Your ongoing commitment during the last year has been incredible. Words cannot express how much I enjoy working with all of you. to our other sponsors, Roper, Stetson, Wrangler, Bailey Hats, Montana Silversmiths and Pure Elements Salon, you always kept Britteny and I looking our best. And we needed to look out best especially when we are promoting on 790 CFCW, The Edmonton Sun, Global Edmonton or doing a photo shoot for Canadian Cowboy Country Magazine - so thank you!

Britteny, our powerful dynamics always found a way to surpass any obstacle we may have encountered. Throughout our travels, you continued to exceed my expectations over and over again - maintaining your composure and inspiring the best in people around you. Britt, we have shared an incredible experience together and I will never forget you.

Mom, Dad, Brett, Kent, Eric, Craig & Kris - throughout my life you gave me the support and encouragement that I have needed to succeed. Never has this been more evident than in the past year. It is said "A successful person is a dreamer whom someone believed in." Thank you for all believing in me!

Being Miss Rodeo Canada Princess 2010 has fulfilled a dream far beyond any of my expectations. I risked everything for my dream and my dream came true! Throughout my reign I have always signed my autographs "Happy Trails" and so it is only fitting that my farewell message as Miss Rodeo Canada Princess 2010 concludes with this verse by a country girl I grew up admiring, Dale Evans:

"Happy Trails to you, until we meet again. Some trails are happy ones, others are blue. It's the way you ride the trail that counts, here's one for you."

Thank you and God bless you all.
