Phyllis Backs (Dahl)
Miss Rodeo High River

A ranch raised girl from Millarville, Phyllis loved horses and was involved with rodeo at a very early age. She was a founding member of the CGBRA now known as the Canadian Girls Rodeo Association (CGRA). 1959 was the "Thrill of a lifetime" for this 18 year old cowgirl as she captured the titles of "Miss Frontier" of High River, "Miss Rodeo Canada" and runner-up to "Miss Rodeo America!"

While raising two children, Phyllis enjoyed a successful real estate career in the Calgary area. The love of Rodeo once again drew Phyllis and her good horse "Rockin' Dancin' Doc" to competing on the Senior Pro Rodeo circuit for several years on both sides of the border. Her winnings included the Canadian Barrel racing championship 3 times and placing in the top 10 in the world standings 5 times. A serious Rodeo accident which was life changing led to early retirement. Phyllis now enjoys travelling, visiting family and friends and having fun with her grandchildren. She always has been and always will be a great rodeo fan.

I am happily living with my soulmate, Ron, in our fabulous condo which backs onto Fish Creek Park in Caglary, Alberta. I ahve my den set up as a wellness room where I give folks "Energy Treatments" on the miracle medical devices from Japan that got me out of a wheelchair after I was severly injured in a freak rodeo accident in 1994. Love rodeos, music, dancing, traveling, spending time with grandchildren etc. ... life is great!
