Eileen from Rivercourse, is 24 years old, and is presently employed in LLoydminster. Eileen is an active member of the CRCA, CCA and CGRA, and is dedicated to rodeo. She is the 1978 Lloydminster Kinsmen Rodeo Queen.

Miss Rodeo Canada 1979 was awarded to Miss Eileen Djuff!

Tammy is a 20 year old accounts payable clerk from Williams Lake, B.C. Tammy is the 1978 Williams Lake Stampede Queen, and enjoys cross-country and downhill skiing, skating, crocheting, ice hockey, horseback riding and working with children.

 



Shelly Ann Farley

Shelly Ann Farley
Eighteen year old Shelly, from Surrey, B.C. is a sales co-ordinator and enjoys ridiong, dancing, out-door sports, and would like to become a riding instructor. Shelly is the 1978 Miss Rodeo Cloverdale, and Miss Rodeo B.C.

Valerie is 18 years old and lives in Red Deer, where she is employed as a sales clerk. Varlerie was 1975 B.C. High School Rodeo Queen, 1976, 1977 and 1978 B.C.H.S.R. All Around, and 1978 B.C. Amateur Barrel Racing Champion.

The 1978 Miss Rodeo Canada pageant saw four young ladies vying for the Miss Rodeo Canada title. Miss Marianne Cole was crowned the new Miss Rodeo Canada!

Marianne Cole
Wetaskiwin, Alberta

Marianne Cole is from Wetaskiwin where she is a teacher and is 24 years of age. She enjoys horse shows, rodeos, gymkhanas and various other sports. Marianne is fluent in both Norwegian and French. She was a former member of the Klondike Square Dancers but now devotes her time to training and showing her half Arab mare.

 

Kathy Donald

Kathy Donald
Red Deer, Alberta

Kathy is a 20 year old U of A student and is studying for her Bachelor of Education degree with a major in home economics. She was previously a director of the Quarter Horse Association and the President of the Junior Quarter Horse Association in 1975. Kathy is from Red Deer and her interests include skiing, handicrafts and showing quarter horses.


Joanne Djuff

Rivercourse

This 19 year old contestant lives in Rivercourse and is employed as a receptionist in Lloydminster. Joanne Djuff enjoys barrel racing, rodeos, travelling and has a variety of hobbies including sewing. She was the 1975 C.G.R.A. Rookie of the year and the 1976 Lloydminster Rodeo Queen. She is sponsored by the Lloydminster Kinsmen.

Joanne Djuff was crowned the new Miss Rodeo Canada for 1978.

 

Trina Gropp

Trina Gropp
Langley, BC

Trina is from Langley, BC and is the 1977 Cloverdale Rodeo Queen. She enjoys horseback riding and showing quarter horses in performance and reining classes. Her interests include sining professionally, psychology and swimming. At 18 years of age she is employed as an engraver and is the assistant manager at her place of employment.

Merry Ann Reed

Merry Ann Reed (Stoney)
Merry Ann is 21 years of age and is this year's Williams Lake Stampede Queen. During the week she is busy in the accounts payable department for the school district there. Her interests include showing her quarter horse, rodeoing on the I.R.A. Circuit, hunting small game and fishing.

Miss Merry Ann Reed was crowned the new Miss Rodeo Canada 1977!



Marianne Cole

Marianne Cole
Marianne is 23 years of age and is a Physical Education and French teacher at Wetaskiwin. She is a member of the Klondike Square Dance Riders and enjoys gymkhanas and showing horses as well as cattle. Her other interests include sewing, beadwork, playing the piano, all sports and the outdoors.

 

 

Wanda Elliott

Wanda Elliott
This 23 year old young lady is from Lac La Biche and is the assistant manager of the Smoky Lake Provincial Grazing Reserve. Wanda enjoys travelling, barrel racing on the C.C.A. Circuit, training horses, leathercraft, beadwork and team roping with rodeo as her main interest.

 

 

Debra Johnston

Debra Johnston
This 18 year old contestant for Miss Rodeo Canada is from Warburg. She was busy last summer showing Arabs at different shows in the United States. In the winter you can find Debbie on the ski slopes or on a skating rink. She plans to become a social worker.

 

 

Barbara Jo Penner

Barbara Jo Penner
Barbara hails all the way from Regina, Saskatchewan where she is a registered nurse. She is 21 years of age and has many interests including showing and training quarter horses and Samoyed dogs, water skiing, travelling and of course rodeos.

In 1976 the Miss Rodeo Canada pageant had five contestants. Miss Shelly (Sis) Thacker was crowned the new Miss Rodeo Canada 1976!

Sis is a telephone perator from Red Deer and is 21 years old. She enjoys rodeoing and travelling as well as meeting new people.

Wanda Cormack

Wanda Cormack
Redwater, Alberta

Wanda is 22 years old and is from Redwater. She is employed at the Royal Bank of Canada in Redwater as a teller. Wanda enjoys riding and showing horses which she has been doing for many hyears and started giving riding lessons this year.

St. Lina, Alberta

Wanda is 22 years old and lives in St. Lina. She is employed by Energy and Natural Resources as an assistant rider on priovincial grazing reserves. Wanda enjoys training horses, leatherwork and beadwork as well as barrel racing on the CCA circuit.

 

Norma Henry

Sherwood Park, Alberta

Norma is from Sherwood Park and is working at the Imperial Oil Refinery as a lab sampler. She is 23 years old and has many interests including riding and training horses, trail riding, barrel racing, camping and reading. Norma also likes to help work with the cattle when she's home from work.

Leduc, Alberta

Cheryl is 20 years old and is an advertising representative for the Leduc paper. She enjoys showing horses, sports, leatherwork, 4-H activities, public speaking and the computer sciences.
